I have had the good fortune to eat all over the world however I was amazed by dining in this Washington Land mark with some of my chef colleagues from the US.
Michel Richard is the consummate host and chef. He is everywhere in his restaurant at once. Seemingly calm and unhurried but in complete control of the entire enviourment.
I think he has the entire restaurant running perfectly. Awesome service, organized clean open kitchen, friendly informative staff, elegant surroundings.
If I have a restaurant again it would be like Citronelle.
The food was modern and creative in presentation but grounded in french traditionalism with accurate intense flavors.
He prepared for us a 9 course completely sous vide menu which opened my eyes to this technique.
Easily one of my top five dining experiences. Michael Richard my hats off to you. A professional, a gentleman and an extraordinary chef.
